Runtime Menu System

The Orion runtime menu system provides a familiar, easy to use interface while reducing screen “clutter” by eliminating extra buttons required for navigation. Each series of interface screens will have their own series of menus specifically focused on the tasks for the specific screen.

Shown below at the "top" level menu when Orion runtime first loads.

Orion's Web Server is configured in System Setup.htm

Faceplate options allow the user to customize the loop view screens of Orion.  AutoScroll forces the loop displays to scroll automatically through all loops every 4 seconds.  When AutoScroll is enabled, setpoints can not be changed from the loop view screens.  The user can select which variable to display on the faceplates by selecting PV, SP or %Out from the checkbox selection on the screen.

Web Options: If Orion is plugged into an Ethernet connection (Orion ships configured for "DHCP"), the IP address of the unit will be displayed. DHCP means "Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol". This is a term used when a device (Orion) is hooked to an Ethernet connection and the main system (router) automatically assigns the IP address when the device (Orion) is powered up.

The "Web Server Enabled" checkbox turns on or off the Orion unit from serving web pages that are accessible via a local Intranet or World Wide Web.

Viewing Orion's Web Server

After Orion is connected to an Ethernet connection and the IP address is assigned by the system, write down the IP address shown on the above screen.  Start Internet Explorer from any PC on the local network.

In the “Address” toolbar of Internet Explorer type: http://192.168.1.105/Orion.html (use actual IP address shown on your Orion  screen).  The following page will be displayed and updated every 30 seconds automatically with new data from the Orion system.  Loop, alarm, totals and digital inputs status (if using FDC digital alarm manager) data is provided for “view only” access.
