Note v2.21:

VR18 Firmware v2.21 and later corrects Time Reset software Bug; Daylight Savings Bug effective February 2006.

Observer Software v2.10 or before must be updated to v2.21 when connected to VR18 with v2.21 or later firmware.

Observer v2.20 will operate correctly with VR18 v2.31 firmware but must be updated to match later VR18 firmware versions.

Example: VR18 v2.33 firmware requires Observer v2.33.

Observer I and II v2.37 are compliant with the following Windows Operating Systems:

98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, VISTA and Windows 7.

(versions before v2.33 were not VISTA and v2.37 were not Windows 7 validated as compliant)

Reset to Factory Defaults

Reset a VR Recorder to its' factory default settings is a simple task described below and in the linked pdf file VR06-18: Rest to Factory Defualt.pdf

Press and hold the top left key prior to powering the instrument, provide power and continue to hold the key until you hear two beeps. Release the key, cycle the power off then on and instrument will boot with factory default settings.

Observer Software - April 2007: "Illegal System DLL Relocation"

This problem is caused by installation of Windows security update 925902 & 928843 directly from Microsoft via automatic updates set within a PC.

Solution: review and install as appropriate of security update 935448 from Microsoft; check the following url to review & install this security update.
