What is the MCT-DX Interface?

The MCT-DX is a 4.3" color touch screen interface connecting to a single Dixell Prime CX or XW60K control via the Dixell's optional XJ485-CX external module. MCT-DX is compatible with the Dixell XW60K and CX Series (XR40CX, XR60CX, XR70CX and XR75CX) controllers.

The MCT-DX combines all of the features of the Dixell XW60K and Prime CX refrigeration controllers with an embedded SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) into a single / intuitive to use device. LAN features include Email/SMS (text messaging) on alarm, FTP (file transfer protocol for automated data backup) and remote view/control (Web server/VNC server) are standard with MCT-DX and can be accessed via LAN/WAN using a PC, tablet or smart phone device.

MCT-DX Applications

Applicable for any appliance controlled by a Dixell XW60K or Prime CX controls where flexible out-of-the box LAN capabilities and/or SCADA functions (data logging, alarm monitoring, operator audit trail, etc.) are required to meet internal Quality, Regulatory or HACCP protocols now or in the future.

MCT-DX Intuitive Operation

MCT-DX intuitive operation, user configurable with "slide nav" finger icon navigation similar to smart phones or tablets or as a traditional drop down menu system, requires less training and minimizes operator error

The MCT-DX display area is split into two sections; the icon bar on the upper 20% of the display with the balance the main display area.

  • The Main display area is used to view control information with configurable tag names (graphic shows Room), active PV, SP & operational status, navigation icons and appropriate functions selected; i.e. chart view, data logging, defrost settings, etc.). Single and dual loop views are also available to show typical Condenser and Evaporator values as well as a High/Low temperature monitor (probe #1).
  • The icon bar is visible at all times providing one touch selection of the Menu (navigation), Help, Home, Alarm (flashes when an alarm occurs) icons, Data/Time field and Navigation Arrows.
    • The Help icon provides the user content sensitive information for every function. .
    • The date/time field provides the current date/time and when depressed a Notifications window is opened. The Notification window provides a one-touch snapshot of current MCT-DX activity; i.e. PV/SP values, Alarm, Data Logging, Security activity and more.

For the OEM, most of the MCT-DX configuration is handled automatically matching the Dixell-CX and XW60K control configuration when connected. OEM specific runtime features (screen availability, menus, language, etc.) are easily configured to meet their requirements. The OEM configuration can be imported/exported to any other MCT-DX device for setup (from scratch) within minutes.

MCT-DX is OEM Friendly

For the OEM, most of the MCT-DX configuration is handled automatically matching the Dixell-CX and XW60K control configuration when connected. OEM specific runtime features (screen availability, menus, language, etc.) are easily configured to meet their requirements.

Changing units from F/C is a one button touch. The Dixell control units for alarm and other settings are automatically changed.

The OEM configuration can be imported/exported to any other MCT-DX device for setup within minutes as well as an OEM configurable “reset default settings” utility to allow the end user to reset the system to the OEM’s configuration settings.

MCT-DX - an International Product

A truly international product, MCT-DX may be configured in any one of 11 languages providing ease of use almost anywhere in the world.

MCT-DX Feature Review

MCT-DX provides a rich set of tools for control interaction and process monitoring .

Screen and Navigation Views: The navigation driven interface eliminates screen “clutter” by providing an easy to use “Smart Device” interface for interaction between the user and the MCT / Dixell control combination.

  • The bottom located Command Bar provides intuitive operation for the main features available on the Dixell-CX and XW60K controls. These include Control (enable/disable), Defrost on demand, Light control, Continuous Operation and Energy savings. Any of these functions may be password protected if enabled (the Dixell-CX control must include the feature to be enabled).
  • Simple to use Screen Views include the Home View, Single and Dual views, Trend View Charting, Data Log, Alarm, Alarm Log, Audit Trail views, High / Low temperature monitoring (probe #1) as well as other functions and settings.

Data Logging: Secure Data Logging (with digital signatures) is standard for the main temperature, setpoint, control output percent as well as Evaporator and Condenser values if so equipped. Data logging can be enabled manually or automatically on start-up. Data file analysis tools make looking at historical data a simple task.  Any control variable saved to the data file can be plotted on the historical data chart view for any time frame within the data file’s total time range. Exported Data Files may be easily viewed within Excel or the free Orion-Mi Series Data File Viewer (also allows viewing of alarm and audit trail files)..

Alarm Management: An alarm icon will appear and flash when an alarm occurs with easy operator acknowledgment and reset. An audible alert as well as email/SMS (text messaging) upon alarm may also be configured. An alarm file is created named by the days date with the original and any additional alarms added to the days file.

Security & Audit Trail Files: MCT-DX protects system access with 4 level security (user rights based), audit trails that document all user activity and ensures data integrity by digitally signing all data files and audit trails to meet regulatory requirements. An operator audit trail file is created any day an operator action occurs and is saved as the days date.

File Storage: MCT-DX can store years of data on its SD memory card (data log, alarm and audit trail files).  Data backup is provided with a USB memory stick for plug and play transfer of files and via the FTP back-up utility.

LAN Features: The built in Ethernet functionality includes a ‘Web Server’ providing access to all MCT-DX data (view only), a VNC interface for remote control and monitoring, email/SMS text messaging on alarm, FTP file transfer and an NTS clock, all available via a local Intranet connection (wired or wireless), or the World Wide Web using standard software like Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. Both the email and FTP ports are configurable from 0 to 65,535 with factory defaults of 25 and 21 respectively. FTP is configurable as typical LAN to a FTP server as well as with cloud support for cloud file transfer or DataWeb data streaming.

Modbus Communications: Both serial and TCP-IP (Ethernet) ports for remote software connection are standard. Modbus is configurable as "Standard DX" to communicate with FDC EnVision PC software or "Prime CX" allowing compatibility with existing Dixell software or devices without sacrificing their current software/communications interface.

How MCT-DX assists in Regulatory and HACCP Compliance

CFR21 Part 11 / AMS 2750E Requirements: MCT-DX data logging with digital signatures, accuracy of the loop controls coupled with its Security meets the requirements for both the pharmaceutical CFR21 Part 11 and NADCAP AMS2750E typically found in the heat treading industry.

HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points): MCT-DX provides a manner to easily incorporate data logging, alarm management, LAN connectivity, operator audit trails and more to devices in a process utilizing HACCP protocols.

.JCAHO Standards TS.03.01.01 and TS.03.02.01 (Medical Tissue Storage): MCT-DX embedded data logging, alarm management, LAN connectivity and operator audit trail provides an efficient and effective manner to comply with the JCAHO standards to record tissue storage temperatures. The appliance manufacturer configures the Dixell control for the appropriate alarms as well as battery back-up as required.
